Buddhist Yoga of Body and Mind: the Nangpi Yoga of Kalu Rinpoche

When: Tuesday 15th November to Sunday 20th November
Where: Samye Dzong, 7a Ernies Lane, Monavale

This unique series of exercises goes from the beginnings to the end of Tibetan Buddhist practice, using body and mind in a way that speaks to both halves of the brain simultaneously.

Devised in Samye Ling by the great Kalu Rinpoche, for the special benefit of a Western audience, it starts with the basics, builds up through classical compassion exercises and moves on to channel and chakra work in the inner, visualized body of light. The mindful movements are relatively simple to learn and will be accompanied by thorough dharma explanations at each stage.

The yoga is a Buddhist practice, but is open to all. It is suited for Tara Rokpa Therapy students, since this yoga is being introduced into the program by Akong Tulku Rinpoche.

Participants unable to do some of the physical aspects may simply practice the mental aspect. Bring comfortable, loose clothing. The various exercises can be practiced individually after the course.

The 37 practices of a Bodhisattva

When: Friday 25th to Sunday 27th November
Where: Samye Dzong, 7a Ernies Lane

The 37 practices of a Bodhisattva distil the essence of the teachings and have inspired generations of practitioners.

In our own sanga when Gruva Sheehan was dying Lama Yeshe sent her one of the practices every 2 weeks and suggested she memorize them.

These teachings help us to develop true compassion which is not bound by likes and dislikes, or preferences but is all encompassing, like the sky.
