Mindfulness – The Art of Being Present

Mindfulness is a training of the mind through various skilful techniques to enable on to be more present resulting in less distraction, stress, anxiety and tensions in our daily life.

Courses

1. “Reviewing some Basic Principles of Mindfulness training”

A refresher course for beginners and those who have some previous Mindfulness experience.

Topics to be covered are: The Unsettled Mind, Working with Distraction, Observer and Undercurrent.
Presenters: Mia Moers and Dave Sheehan
Dates: Four Monday evenings – 17th, 24th September and 1st and 8th October
Timings: 17.15 for 17.30 – 19.00 hours
Venue: Lamenier Village Hall, Ridgeway North just off Enterprise Road.
Cost: $30 for the course or $10 per talk or whatever you can afford.

2. “Mindfulness Training as an Antidote to Daily Stress & Anxiety”

Whatever obstacles arise, if we deal with them through kindness without trying to escape, then we will have real freedom.  In this course we will be looking at the way in which Mindfulness can assist with dealing with daily stress and anxiety.

Dates: Six Monday evenings – 22nd and 29th October and 5th, 12th, 19th and 26th November.
Timings: 17.15 for 17.30 – 19.00 hours
Venue: Lamenier Village Hall, Ridgeway North just off Enterprise Road.
Cost: USD 10 per talk or $50 for the whole course or whatever you can afford

Retreat

3. Five Day Mindfulness Retreat

“Developing our compassionate capacity through working skilfully with forgiveness and acceptance”

This Retreat will allow practitioners to strengthen their mindfulness faculty through periods of sitting meditation, walking meditation, and allowing our natural inner peace to arise in the beautiful granite kopje surrounds. Simple meditation guidance and instructions will be given.

Helpful techniques and reflections on forgiveness and acceptance will be introduced to assist in coming to terms with and ultimately freeing ourselves from emotional difficulties.

Dates: Tuesday 13th – Sunday 18th November 2012
Presenters: Jayne Pilossof and Dave Sheehan
Times:

  • Start time – Suggest arrive 14:00 – 16:00 hours on Tuesday 13th to settle in; evening soup is at 18:00 followed by Introductory Talk at 19:00
  • Finish time – 09:00 Sunday 18th November

Cost:

  • Shared accommodation – $150
  • Camping – $110
  • Plus – Retreatants may be asked to make an offering of soup or a pre-cooked meal for 15 people for which we will gladly reimburse cost of the ingredients.

Venue: Susurumba, Juliasdale, Nyanga (approx 250 kms from Harare immediately behind Pine Tree Inn).
