“Dealing with Radical Change”

A talk with Tom Soper and Rob Nairn

Thursday 22nd September at 5.30pm at KHSD,

7a Ernie’s Lane, Monavale, Strathaven

Just over 2 years ago, Tom Soper had a motor vehicle accident which severed his spinal cord and left him completely paralyzed below the neck. Following 7 months in hospital, Tom returned to Zimbabwe, his family and his work. He will be talking to Rob Nairn about how he is dealing with this radical change in his life and revealing some of the insights that have arisen through the use of reflection and mindfulness in accepting his condition and giving him a fresh perspective on life.

As anyone who knows Tom or has visited his website ( ) will tell you, Tom is an extraordinary person who in his quiet, honest and non egotistical way, manages to inspire and calm all those around him. He reminds us, every day, that even though we all face a variety of challenges in our lives, it is the moment of ‘being’ that really counts.

The evening will be followed by two more talks by Rob Nairn, well known Buddhist teacher and a familiar visitor to Zimbabwe where he was born and educated. Rob is sought after internationally as a lecturer on philosophy and meditation.
