SUMMARY:Million Mani Accumulation
DESCRIPTION:One Million Mani Project 2024 \n \nWe will be reciting and collecting Mani Mantras until we reach One Million Mantras starting on the Wheel Day of Saga Dawa Düchen. All who take part will receive the merit of a million manis. Count your mantras\, whether on the cushion\, or standing in a queue\, and add them to the total. \nThe project will be dedicated to the swift return of Akong Tulku Rinpoche\, the health and long life of Lama Yeshe Losal Rinpoche\, and all sentient beings. \nThis is the third year we are undertaking this project. \nWe will start accumulating the mantras on the full moon of the fourth lunar month\, which is known as the month of merits. It is the holiest month in Tibetan Buddhism\, when the birth\, enlightenment and parinirvana of the historical Buddha is commemorated. This year\, the full moon falls on the 23rd of May. This day is known as Saga Dawa Düchen in Tibetan\, and Wesak in Sanscrit/Pali. \nDuring this month prayers\, practice and other virtuous deeds are encouraged\, including practising generosity and refraining from harming any sentient beings. \nPlease email your Mani numbers to johannesburg@kagyu.org.za or enter your mani numbers on the spreadsheet. \nYou may also dedicate your mantras to specific people – you may add their names to the prayer list here. \n  \n \n“The four arms and hands signify the four immeasurables: immeasurable loving kindness\, immeasurable compassion\, immeasurable joy\, and immeasurable equanimity. Chenrezig\, the Bodhisattva of Boundless Compassion\, is the very embodiment and realization of the four immeasurables. SUMMARY:Sunday Morning Programme in Commemoration of Akong Rinpoche
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for a special event this coming Sunday\, 6 October\, when we will remember Akong Rinpoche\, and conclude our 1 Million Mani Project. Alan Muller will give a talk on the Role of the Lama in Tibetan Buddhism from 10 am. We will have tea together (please bring some treats to share)\, and then we will conclude with a joyful Chenrezik Puja and dedicate the merit accumulated to the lamas and to world peace. You are welcome to send in your dedications as well. \n10 – 10:30 AM \nThe Role of the Lama in Tibetan Buddhism\nAlan Muller will give a short talk on the role of the Lama (Tibetan)\, Guru (Sanskrit) or Teacher (English) on the path to Enlightenment\, using stories about Akong Tulku Rinpoche and Lama Yeshe Losal Rinpoche \n10:30 – 11:00 AM \nTea\nPlease bring a plate of treats to share. \n11:00 AM to 12:00 PM \nChenrezik Prayers\nWe will do Chenrezik Prayers together to close off our One Million Mani Project. The merit will be dedicated to the return of Akong Rinpoche\, and the health of Lama Yeshe Rinpoche\, as well as peace in the world \n  \n \n
