SUMMARY:What it Means to be a Buddhist (part 1) with Gelongma Lhamo
DESCRIPTION:A two-part talk series with Gelongma (Ani) Lhamo. You are welcome to attend either one\, or both of the talks\, as each session offers valuable insights and teachings. \nWhat it means to be Buddhist (Part 1)\nDate: Saturday 22 March\nTime: 10:30 – 11:30 \n“Refrain from all harm\nBring benefit to others \nTame our own mind \nThis is the teaching of the Buddha” \nA look at the most fundamental Buddhist teachings: how they underpin all the methods and paths; and especially how these simple instructions can be used by anyone to transform and improve our lives. \nWhat it means to be Buddhist (Part 2)\nDate: Saturday 29 March\nTime: 10:30 – 11:30 \nThe Three Trainings: Morality\, Meditation and Wisdom \nA brief exploration of some practical instructions given by Lord Buddha and passed down to us through generations of accomplished practitioners – especially how we can make some of these simple but profound methods a force for good in our own lives. \nCost\nThere is no charge for these talks\, but donations are welcome. Dharma centres\, which offer teachings and meditation practices that benefit all beings\, are largely sustained through the generosity of their supporters. Donations play a crucial role in ensuring the continuation of these teachings\, providing resources for the upkeep of the centre\, supporting teachers\, and enabling the running of retreats\, courses\, and community activities. \nTeacher\nGelongma (Ani) Lhamo is a fully ordained Buddhist nun from Scotland who completed a four-year cloistered retreat in 1993 and has lived at Samye Ling Monastery ever since. An experienced teacher of meditation and Dharma\, she has also served as Secretary and assistant to Abbot Lama Yeshe Losal Rinpoche at Samye Ling Monastery for many years. Through her work\, she has learned to integrate meditation and the Buddha’s teachings into her busy daily life. \n  \n  \n  \n
