SUMMARY:Preparing for Death\, Living Fully
DESCRIPTION:A Day Teaching with Lama Rinchen Palmo\nSaturday\, 19 September | 10:00 am – 4:00 pm \nThe Buddha taught that contemplating impermanence is not a pessimistic practice\, but one that awakens us to the preciousness of life. By understanding the inevitability of change and death\, we learn to live with greater wisdom\, compassion and purpose. \nDuring this day of teachings\, Lama Rinchen Palmo will explore the Buddhist understanding of death and dying\, drawing on timeless teachings that remain deeply relevant in our modern world. The day will offer practical guidance on preparing for death—not only as the final transition of life\, but as a way of enriching how we live each day. \nThrough teachings\, meditation and discussion\, participants will discover how reflecting on impermanence can help reduce fear\, cultivate acceptance\, and inspire a more meaningful and compassionate way of living. \nWhether you are curious about Buddhist teachings on death\, supporting a loved one through illness\, or simply seeking to live more fully in the present\, this teaching offers profound wisdom and practical tools for everyday life. \nThere is no cost for these teachings but dana for the teacher and donations to the centre to help with the flight costs are welcome. \nPlease bring a plate of vegetarian food to share at lunch. \n\nOf French descent\, Lama Rinchen Palmo is a highly experienced meditation teacher with excellent English\, who has spent more than twelve years in retreat and previously assisted in supervising the long retreats on Holy Isle. She specialises in the Vajrayana practices of Tibetan Buddhism and is one of three Western women to have been appointed as a lama within the Samye Ling mandala. \nRenowned for her compassionate\, practical and down-to-earth teaching style\, she currently resides in Belgium\, where she divides her time between Kagyu Samye Dzong Brussels and the Samye Meditation Gardens\, a retreat centre near the French border dedicated to nurturing both inner and outer ecology
