The head of the Kagyu school is His Holiness, the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa, Ogyen Trinley Dorje. There are four main schools in the Tibetan Tradition &#8211; the other three schools\u00a0being Nyingma, Sakya,\u00a0and Gelug. <span style=\"color: #008000;text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Samye<\/strong><\/span> is the name of the first Buddhist Monastery in Tibet. Samye means something like &#8216;inconceivable&#8217;. And <span style=\"color: #008000;text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Dzong<\/strong><\/span> means &#8216;fortress&#8217;, or a piece of land in a city.<\/p>\n<p>We are affiliated to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.samyeling.org\/\">Kagyu Samye Ling Monastery in Scotland<\/a>, the first established monastery in the west. Ling means a large piece of land (estate, campus).
