He took vows for some time as a Buddhist Monk, and did a year&#8217;s retreat at Samye Ling in Scotland. He now conducts retreats at the Tara Rokpa Retreat Centre in the Groot Marico. He has much experience and wisdom to share in his quiet, humble and compassionate manner.<\/div>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>Ng\u00f6ndro\u00a0Teaching Day<\/h3>\n<div>Saturday 10 September 2016 \u00a0\u00a010:30\u00a0 &#8211; 16:00<\/div>\n<div>10:30 \u2013 1:00\u00a0 Alan Muller will give an overview of the various Ng\u00f6ndro practices.<\/div>\n<div>2:00 \u2013 4:00\u00a0 Opportunity will be given to do Ng\u00f6ndro practice.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>There will be no fee for this 1 day course. Donations and dana are requested to support Alan, and the costs of running this course and the centre. Bring and Share vegetarian lunch<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>Teachings on the Green Tara Practice<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<p>SUN 11 September\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 10.30 to 4pm<\/p>\n<p>SAT 17 September \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a010.30 to 4pm<\/p>\n<p><em>Tara is the female Bodhisattva of Compassion, and her main activity is to offer protection from fear, danger and suffering, <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>and to swiftly remove obstacles and difficulties.\u00a0 <\/em><em>These include both physical dangers and the afflicting emotions in our mind.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Alan will play Lama Tsondru\u2019s teachings on Tara.<\/p>\n<p>He will also:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>go through the different sections in the text<\/li>\n<li>the visualisations<\/li>\n<li>the symbols and what they represent<\/li>\n<li>the 21 Praises and the mantra recitation.<\/li>\n<li>There will be time to practice the puja.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Texts, photographs and cds will be available to purchase<\/p>\n<p>There will be no fee for this 2 day course.<\/p>\n<p>Donations and dana are requested to support Alan, and the costs of running this course and the centre.<\/p>\n<p>Bring and Share vegetarian lunch.<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>Teaching on Chenrezik Practice<\/h3>\n<p><em>Practice for Universal Compassion and Purification<\/em><\/p>\n<p>SUN 18 September \u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a010.30 am -4 pm<\/p>\n<p>This simple yet profound practice is a \u201cfull practice\u201d in itself, and contains the OM MANI PEME HUNG mantra, one of the best known mantras.<\/p>\n<p>You can do the Chenrezi puja even if you have not taken refuge.<\/p>\n<p>The teachings will be aimed at both beginners and more experienced practitioners.<\/p>\n<p>Alan will :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Give a simple explanation on how to begin practicing the Chenrezig puja.<\/li>\n<li>Explain the meaning of the symbolism<\/li>\n<li>Explore what is cultivated when you do this practice<\/li>\n<li>Spend time practicing the visualizations<\/li>\n<li>Do some guided Chenrezig practice<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Texts, photographs and cds will be available to purchase<\/p>\n<p>There will be no fee for this 1 day course.<\/p>\n<p>Donations and dana are requested to support Alan, and the costs of running this course and the centre.<\/p>\n<p>Bring and Share vegetarian lunch.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Alan Muller is one of our hidden South African Buddhist treasures.
