Millions of Manis 2026

Millions of Mani Mantras Project

Starting on Saga Dawa Düchen – 31 May 2026
End date: 8 October 2026
We invite you to join us in reciting and collecting Mani Mantras with the shared goal of reaching millions of mantras. This meaningful project begins on Saga Dawa Düchen— one of the four Wheel Days in the Tibetan Buddhist calendar— which falls on Sunday, 31 May. We will finish on the 8th of October 2026, the anniversary of Akong Rinpoche’s parinirvana.
Whether you’re on your meditation cushion or standing in a queue, your Om Mani Padme Hum counts. Everyone who participates will share in the merit of all the millions of mantra recitations.
Now in its fifth year, this project is dedicated to:
- The swift return of Akong Tulku Rinpoche
- The health and long life of Lama Yeshe Losal Rinpoche
- The benefit of all sentient beings
We will begin on the full moon of the fourth lunar month, known as Saga Dawa, the holiest month in Tibetan Buddhism. It commemorates the birth, enlightenment, and parinirvana of the Buddha. During this sacred time, virtuous deeds—such as prayer, generosity, and refraining from harm—are especially encouraged and believed to be multiplied many times over.
How to Participate:
- Record your mantra count and send it to: johannesburg@kagyu.org.za
- Or enter your total directly on this form.
- You may also dedicate your recitations to individuals by adding their names to the prayer list
Let us come together as a community in compassion and aspiration. Every mantra counts!
