Saga Dawa Düchen Celebration 2026

May 31 @ 10:30 am - 1:00 pm

Saga Dawa Duchen Celebration at KSDJ Temple
Sunday, 31 May 2026 | 10:30 AM to 13:00 PM

We warmly invite you to join us at KSDJ Temple for the auspicious celebration of Saga Dawa Düchen, one of the most sacred days in the Tibetan Buddhist calendar.

During the month of Saga Dawa, we commemorate the birth, enlightenment, and parinirvana of Gautama Buddha. This an especially meaningful time for reflection, practice, and the accumulation of merit. Saga Dawa runs from 17 May to 15 June this year. The month is named after a star visible during this period. Across the Himalayan Buddhist world, this month is observed through acts of generosity, compassion, and spiritual discipline.

Programme:

  • 10:30 AM  Talk with Alan Muller
The 12 Deeds of the Buddha — a reflection on the key events in the life of the Buddha and their deeper spiritual significance
  • Tea
  • Chenrezig Prayers
We will conclude with a group practice dedicated to Chenrezig, the embodiment of compassion, marking the launch of our Million Mani Project—a collective aspiration to accumulate millions of the mantra Om Mani Peme Hung for the benefit of all beings.

Why Attend?

Saga Dawa is considered a time when the effects of positive and negative actions are greatly magnified. It is therefore a powerful opportunity to:

  • Deepen your understanding of the Buddha’s life and teachings
  • Engage in practice with others
  • Set meaningful intentions for the path ahead

All are welcome—whether you are new to Buddhism or an experienced practitioner. Please feel free to bring friends and family.

We look forward to sharing this special day of practice, learning, and community with you.

Offerings

It is extremely beneficial to make offerings on this day. Flowers, candles, food to share, and donations to the Temple are among the many ways one can accumulate merit.
